Abstract
1,251,827. Heat-treating silicon steel. NIPPON STEEL CORP. Dec. 9, 1968 [Dec.12, 1967], No. 58395/68. Headings C7A and C7N. [Also in Division C1 A vitreous electrically insulating film is formed on an oriented cold-rolled silicon steel sheet by heat-treating in a reducing atmosphere (e.g. H 2 -containing) at 700-900‹ C., coating the sheet with a substance prepared by mixing 0.5-40 parts by weight of one or more oxides or hydroxides of Ti with 100 parts of one or more oxides or hydroxides of Mg, and annealing said steel sheet above 1100‹ C. in a hydrogen-containing atmosphere. The substance may also contain 0.5-50 parts of one or more oxides or hydroxides of Mn. The silicon steel sheet preferably comprises 2-3.5% by weight Si, with the balance Fe, although 0.01- 0.09% by weight Al may be present.
