Abstract
1,132,990. Iron base alloys. CHRYSLER CORP. Dec.31, 1965 [Jan.11, 1965], No. 55465/65 Addition to 1, 073, 971. Heading C7A. An iron based austenitic alloy comprises:- the balance apart from incidental impurities and impurities, being iron in an amount of at least 40%. The Ni content must be at least 2% when Mn is less than 1%, the Mn content must be at least 2% when Ni is less than 2% and nitrogen is present, at least 5% when Ni is less than 2% with substantially no nitrogen present and at least 10% when nitrogen and Ni are both absent. The alloy may be solution treated at 2250 F. air cooled and aged at 1400 F.
