Abstract

1310278 Making magnetic steel CREUSOTLOIRE 27 Oct 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 51027/70 Headings C7A and C7D Grain oriented steel sheets are prepared from steel initially containing 2À8-3À5% Si by cold rolling and decarburisation annealing to less than 0À005% carbon; Al, Co, Ge or Si is then placed in contact with the sheet and the composite diffusion annealed followed by annealing to effect secondary recrystallization. In a preferred embodiment the steel is cooled with strip aluminium sufficient to provide 1-2% in the steel, and the combined coil diffusion annealed at 660-950‹ C, followed by recrystallization annealing at 950-1250‹ C.
