974,686. Producing metal sheets; altering physical properties. ARMCO STEEL CORPORATION. Sept. 17, 1962 [Oct. 13, 1961], No. 35311/62. Addition to 950,082. Headings B3A and B3V. [Also in Division C7] Silicon-iron sheet containing 2.5 to 4% of silicon is given a desired crystal structure by a sequence of operations consisting of hot rolling, annealing, cold rolling with a reduction of 55 to 75%, annealing in the range 2000‹ to 2350‹ F., cold rolling to final gauge with a reduction of at least 55%, annealing in the range 1300‹ to 1700‹ F. followed by annealing in the range 2000‹ to 2300‹ F. to cause cubic texture nuclei to grow by secondary recrystallization under surface energy conditions at the expense of grains having different orientations.
