1367180 Magneto-optical storage layer SIEMENS A G 31 Oct 1972 [3 Dec 1971] 50033/72 Headings C7A and C7F A magneto-optical storage layer is made of an alloy having the formula:- wherein the sum of x 1 + x 2 ....+x n is less than 1, T<SP>1</SP>, T<SP>2</SP>.... T <SP>n</SP> are transition elements or copper, and z is 0À8 to 1À2. The layer may be made by simultaneously vapourizing the transition element and Mn, from separate sources on to a Bi layer (e.g. on a mica substrate) and then annealing the multi-component layer. The layer may be covered with SiO.
