Abstract

1,251,788. Pneumatic conveyers. METCO Inc. 1 June, 1970 [26 June, 1969], No. 26255/70. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions B2, C7 and G3] Powder 13 is fed to a flame spray gun via an orifice 16 in a carrier gas conduit 5 which passes through a powder hopper 10, and to which a fluidizing gas is fed at a point remote from orifice 16, e.g. via pipe 31 which may extend into the powder. Pressure in the conduit 15 is sensed and any changes are used to inversely affect the fluidizing gas supply. As shown, the main fluidizing supply is via pipes 20 and 31 through fluidic amplifier 30. Variations in carrier gas pressure are fed back via pipe 18 which discharges in the amplifier at right angles to the main stream. The amount of such discharge regulates the amount of fluidizing gas vented off at 32. The powder may be of less than 5Á diameter and be Ni-Cr alloy or ZrO, and is supplied to a plasma flame gun. Orifice 16 may open upwardly, downwardly or laterally and may include a short lateral pipe as shown.
