Abstract

1,243,399. Photo-conductive element. RANK XEROX Ltd. 27 Aug., 1968 [30 Aug., 1967], No. 40812/68. Heading H1K. [Also in Division C7] A photo-sensitive element has a two-layered photo-conductive portion comprising a first photo-conductive layer having a light fatigue characteristic exceeding 30% and a second photo-conductive layer overlying the first layer and having a light fatigue not exceeding 20%. Vitreous selenium may be used for both layers or alloys thereof with As, Bi, Pb or S. The element may comprise a support of Al, steel or brass, or paper, plastics or glass coated with Al, Cu 2 I 2 , SnO or Cr 2 O 3 . The two photoconductive layers may be vacuum deposited on an anodized Al plate in successive operations in a deposition apparatus without breaking the vacuum.
