Abstract
1,214,182. Photoconductive member. RANK XEROX Ltd. 8 Feb., 1968 [10 Feb., 1967], No. 6255/68. Heading H1K. A photoconductive member for use in electrophotography or a vidicon system comprises a layer comprising vitreous selenium and overlying the layer a photoconductive layer containing an insulating resin binder. The member may be self-supporting or on a substrate of Al, brass, steel, Cu, Ni or Zn, a plastics or glass sheet coated with Al, SnO or In 2 O 3 , or conductive paper. The vitreous selenium layer may be evaporated on to the substrate and comprises CdSe, Cd 2 SSe, TeSe, As 2 Se 3 , or alloys of Se with Te, S or As and I. The photoconductive layer comprising the binder is exemplified by polyvinylcarbazole and 2, 4, 7-trinitrofluorenone, phthalocyanine and silicone resin, polyamide, polyurethane, cellulose acetate, or a mixture of epoxy, phenolic and ureaformaldehyde resins, oxadiazole, phenoxy resin and brilliant green, or triphenylamine, phenoxy resin and 2,4,7- trinitrofluorenone. May other materials for the photoconductive layer are specified.
