Abstract
1,229,029. Photoconductive member. RANK XEROX Ltd. 20 Sept., 1968 [21 Sept., 1967], No. 44819/68. Addition to 1,192,592. Heading H1K. A photoconductive member a conductive substrate having thereon a layer 10-50 Á thick of phthalocyanine in a binder, the layer being covered with a layer comprising selenium 0À5-6 Á thick. The substrate may be a plate of Al, brass, steel, Cu, Ni or Zn, or glass, plastics or paper coated with SnO 2 , In 2 O 3 or Al. The selenium containing layer is preferably deposited in a vacuum and contains As, Te, S, CdS, Cd sulpho-selenide or a halogen. Many phthalocyanines are listed but the specific examples use the alpha or X-form of metal-free phthalocyanine or chlorinated copper phthalocyanine. The resin used is preferably a polycarbonate, a silicone, a polyimide, melamineformaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, polyvinylcarbazole, a mixture of phenolic, epoxy and urea-formaldehyde or a hydrogenated rosin ester. The member may be used as an electrophotographic plate or in a vidicon system.
