Abstract

1,174,735. Photoconductive composition. CANON CAMERA CO. Inc. 5 June, 1968 [8 June, 1967], No. 26802/68. Heading H1K. [Also in Division C1] Silver or copper is added as an activator to CdS or CdSe powder, the mixture fired and then fired a second time in an atmosphere of sulphur, only two firing steps being employed. A mixture of the sulphide or selenide with NH 4 Cl, CuCl 2 , and CdCl 2 or ZnO and hydrochloric acid in water is formed, dried, crushed and fired in a quartz vessel at 600‹ C. in an atmosphere of N 2 or Cl 2 and stagnant air. The fired mixture is washed with water dried, screened, mixed with sulphur powder and fired at 500‹ C. in an atmosphere of N 2 and then in vacuum. The twicefired mixture is mixed with an epoxy resin, coated on an Al or polyethylene terephthalate film and the coating covered with a polyethylene terephthalate film to give an electrophotographic plate exhibiting persistent internal polarization.
