Abstract
1,219,142. Non-oxide glasses. RANK XEROX Ltd. 11 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1617/68. Heading C1M. [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] A non-oxide glass which is used as a photoconductive insulating layer on a xerographic plate consists, in atomic per cent, of Plates are made by vapour deposition in vacuo of pre-formed glass on to cooled substrates held at 50-80‹ C. Suitable substrates are brass, Al, Au, Pt, steel, metallized paper, plastic sheets with or without an Al iodide coating, or glass coated with Cr or Sn oxide. The substrate may subsequently be dispensed with. The glass may form an interlayer over which one or more other layers may be deposited from other crucibles in the same vacuum chamber. Such other layers may be of vitreous Se, optionally alloyed with As, Sb, Bi and/or Te and doped with 10-10,000 p.p.m. halogen.
