Abstract
An electrophotographic plate comprises a single-phase glassy layer comprising PbO, ZnO, BaO, TiO 2 , CdO, Bi 2 O 3 , Ga 2 O 3 , In 2 O 3 , SnO, SnO 2 , Sb 2 O 3 , TeO 2 , Cu 2 O, HgO or mixtures thereof in an amount from 50 to 85 mol. per cent, together with SiO 2 , GeO 2 , BaO 3 , V 2 O 5 , P 2 O 5 , TeO 2 , As 2 O 3 , Sb 2 O 3 or mixtures thereof. The plate may comprise a self-supporting layer or be bonded to a conductive substrate. A minor proportion of Al 2 O 3 , MgO, CaO, SrO, Li 2 O, Na 2 O, K 2 O or mixtures thereof may be added. The conductive substrate may be A1, Cu, Ni, Zn, brass, stainless steel or glass with or without a coating of Sn, In or A1. In specific embodiments oxidic glasses containing Pb, Zn, Cd, Si, Bi, Al, B, and Ge are made and bonded in sheet form to an aluminium sheet using conductive silver adhesive. If the plates contain PbO they are suitable for electroradiography.
