Abstract
1474264 X-polymorph of metal-containing phthalocyanine XEROX CORP 29 May 1974 [4 June 1973] 23804/74 Heading C4P [Also in Division G2C The X-polymorph of a metal-containing phthalocyanine is obtained by at least partly converting the corresponding alpha polymorph by heating at a rate of at least 10 C. per minute to any temperature in the range 220 to 450 C., said alpha polymorph being confined during said heating so as to preclude substantial evaporation thereof and being on a substrate and having an average thickness up to 1400 . The alpha polymorph can be in the form of a substantially continuous layer and can be binderless. The polymorph can be confined between confining surfaces which contact the said polymorph. At least one surface may be a quartz surface. The substrate on which the polymorph is deposited may be a quartz substrate or it may be electrically conductive, e.g. an aluminium, brass, chromium or metallized plastics substrate, or tin oxide coated glass or plastics films, e.g. poly-(N-vinylcarbazole). The X-form of the metal phthalocyanine can be used as the photoresponsive medium of an electrophotographic imaging member.
