Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve solvent resistance, water resistance, etc. and prolong life by forming a metal oxide film on one or both surfaces of a substrate in the display panel using the transparent plastic panel having electrodes composed of transparent conductive films.
CONSTITUTION: In producing the display panel using a transparent plastic substrate having the electrodes composed of transparent conductive films, a thin film of oxide of metals such as Ti, Zr, Cr, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb and In is formed on one or both surfaces of the transparent plastic substrate by such methods as vapor deposition method, sputtering method, ion plating method and organic metal solution coating method. The suitable thickness of the metal oxide film formed is about 100W5000Å, preferably 1000W2000Å. Coating treatment such as of organic silane coupling agents as pretreatment is effective for improving the adhesiveness of the metal oxide film to the plastic substrate.
