Abstract
1,229,559. Electrophotographic plate. RANK XEROX Ltd. 21 May, 1969 [24 May, 1968], No. 26002/69. Heading H1K. An electrophotographic plate comprises a conductive substrate overcoated with a layer comprising a substituted N-(silylisobutyl) ethylenediamine, the layer being overcoated with a selenium containing layer. The substrate may be A1, brass, stainless steel, Ni, Zn, Cu, glass or plastics coated with A1, SnO or In 2 O 3 or conductive paper containing a suitable chemical or water. The substrate is degreased, treated with an alkali and etched before application of the layers. In one embodiment N-(dimethoxy methyl silyl isobutyl)ethylenediamine mixed with γ-methacryloxy propyl trimethoxysilane or vinyltriacetoxysilane is applied in an aqueous-methanolic solution to the substrate. Other silyl diamine derivatives are specified. The selenium containing layer may be Se, Se + Te/As/I/S, CdSe, CdSSe and may be applied by vapour deposition. Comparative examples using a polysiloxane derived from vinyltriethoxysiloxane and aminopropyltriethoxysiloxane in place of the silyldiamine layer are given.
