Abstract
1,165,579. Xerographic plate. RANK XEROX Ltd. 22 Dec., 1966 [27 Dec., 1965], No. 57410/66. Addition to 1,067,223. Heading H1K. A xerographic plate comprises a photoconductive layer comprising a composition of selenium, arsenic and a halogen other than iodine. The layer may be self-supporting or on a substrate of brass, Al, Au, Pt, and steel, metallized paper, plastics sheet coated with Al or Cu 2 I 2 or glass coated with Cr or Sn oxide. The support member may be rigid or flexible and in the form of a sheet, web or cylinder. Bromine, chlorine, sodium hypochlorite or a halogen compound of As or Se may be added to a cooled sample of arsenic and selenium and then heated to complete the reaction. The product is evaporated on to the substrate in vacuum. The halogen may be dispersed throughout the layer or confined to a surface layer.
