Abstract

1,166,872. Xerographic plate. RANK XEROX Ltd. 19 Dec., 1966 [27 Dec., 1965], No. 56668/66. Heading H1K. A xerographic plate has a photoconductive layer on one surface thereof, the layer comprising amorphous selenium doped with a halogen in concentration of at least 0À0002 wt. per cent. Preferably the halogen concentration is sufficient to impart persistent photoconductivity but insufficient to increase substantially the dark conductivity of the plate. The halogen may be dispersed throughout the selenium or confined to the surface. Bromine, chlorine, silver chloride or a selenium halide may be used as the source of halogen but iron and sodium halides are not suitable. Selenium and the halogen source may be evaporated on to tinoxide-coated glass.
