Abstract
1467184 Electro-photographic materials XEROX CORP 26 July 1974 [30 July 1973 30 April 1974] 33071/74 Heading G2C An electro-photographic material comprises an electrically conductive support, an anodically formed porous aluminium oxide coating which has been sealed at its surface by forming hydrated aluminium oxide and which is at most 1 micron thick and a photo-conducting layer of amorphous Se and/or Se alloy. Generally the support is Al or Al alloy but a support of an Al layer on plastics or Ni, Cr, Ag, steel or brass may be used and the Al may be anodized with a sulphuric acid electrolyte and the oxide coating sealed by heating using hotwater or steam to form the hydrated aluminium oxide before application of the Se layer. Sealing the Al 2 O 3 layer ensures better adhesion of the Se layer. Se/Ps, Se/Te, Se/Sb and Se/Bi are the specified Se alloys. A protective insulating layer may be coated over the Se layer; this overcoat may contain trinitrofluorenone or polyvinyl carbazole.
