Abstract
1,238,728. Tool posts. R. REINERT. 10 Sept., 1968 [16 Sept., 1967; 7 May, 1968], No. 42958/68. Heading B3T. A tool post comprises a body portion 10 having side faces 13 and 14 at an angle to each other and dovetail guides 16 and 17 on which removable tool holders may be clamped, by members 25 located in slots 19, 20 in the respective sides 13 and 14. The clamping members have dovetail projections identical with the guides on the faces and are independently movable by eccentric pins 32 in the tool-post body. The clamping members are moved in the slots obliquely to the side faces by rotation of the pins 32 thereby urging the co-operating portions of the dovetails on the post and tool holder into clamping engagement. A spring- biased ball 40 in the body and a co-operating detent in the clamping member facilitates retention and guiding of the clamping member.
