A holder for milling, planing or turning tools comprises a body 1 having a groove 5 in one face and a jaw 3 movable in a slot at the front of the holder to clamp a tool in the groove. The jaw is moved by a conically-ended screw 9. For holding a thin tool 11, Fig. 3, a split adaptor 12 has a tongue 13 to fit in the slot 5 of the holder 1.
