Abstract
1,231,619. Two-part couplings. SEALECTRO CORP. 8 Aug., 1968 [10 Aug., 1967], No. 37967/68. Heading H2E. A coaxial elbow connector comprises a bent inner contact 10 in an insulating sleeve 14, and outer tubular members 27, 48, 60, the cavity defined by the member 48, an end cap 54, and the insulating sleeve 14, being filled with tightly packed conductive particles, for example of copper, silver or stainless steel, to enhance the electrical characteristics of the connector at the bend portion. The inner conductor 11 of a coaxial cable 12 is connected to the contact 10 via a solderable female connector 19 positioned inside an insulating sleeve 37. The outer conductor 44 of the cable is clamped to a bevelled, slotted collar 34, 36 when a clamp nut 40 is tightened. A bushing 32 and clamp gasket 33 provide a moisture-proof seal. A coupling nut 63 which, together with the inner contact end 26, connects with a mating connector, is held captive on the outer terminal member 60 by means of a split locking ring 64, and another moisture-proof seal is made by a sealing gasket 66. The conductive particles may be held in an epoxy resin binder.
