Abstract

1325720 Electric couplings BUNKERRAMO CORP 23 Dec 1970 [19 Jan 1970] 61211/70 Heading H2E The end 25 of the metallic shield 23 of a cable 22 are clamped between a shell 12 and a member 26, the conductors 24 of the cable extending through the member 26 to contacts (not shown) within a main shell 11 of an electrical connector. The main shell 11 and shell 12 are coupled together by means of a rotatable ring 13 on the shell 12 engaging screw threads 15 on the main shell with axial projections 20 mating with complementary notches 19 to prevent relative rotation between the shells, the member 26, which has axial slots 30 and a radial wall 34, being resiliently deformed during the coupling to effect the clamping of the shield end 25. Earthing conductors of the cable are connected to lugs 38 on the member 26. Mechanical strain relief is effected by an elastomeric annular member 43 which is compressed around the cable between a shoulder 44 of the shell 12 and the end surface 45 of a member 40, which is screwed into the end portion 41 of the shell 12, and a resilient C-shaped metal collar 54 which is engaged by the conical inner surface 55 of the member 40 so that its die edges 57, 58 bite into the cable.
