Abstract

1473676 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 28 May 1974 [7 June 1973] 23618/74 Heading H2E A connector for use with a three-conductor coaxial cable comprises a conductive body 26 with two mutually insulated crimping ferrules 54, 62; the ferrule 54 containing a bush 56 for engaging the inner conductive braid 16 of the cable and the ferrule 62 for engaging the outer conductive braid 20 of the cable. The bush 56 is of brass or other metal and has mounted on it an insulating bush 58 and a brass bush 60 and, in use is positioned over the inner braid 16 with the end portion of the braid folded back over the outside of the clamp (the cable outer braid 20 and insulation 18 between the inner and outer braids having been cut back) and inserted into the ferrule 54 (a wall portion of the body 26). The outer braid 20 is positioned between the bush 60 and the ferrule 62, the latter being kept apart from the ferrule 54 by a projecting portion 84 of the insulating bush 58. A die 74 is used to crimp both ferrules 54, 62 simultaneously. An earth wire 82 is shown held against the braid 20 beneath the ferrule 62. The body, at its mating end, has a nut 28, captive by a ring 30, and a centre contact 46 soldered to the centre conductor 12 of the cable with a dielectric 44.
