Abstract

949,735. Couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION. Dec. 15, 1961 [Dec. 19, 1960], No. 45016/61. Heading H2E. A connector for mounting cables comprises two coaxial flanged metal tubes, one inside the other, the outer tube being made of a metal more malleable than the other. The invention is described with reference to routing a coaxial cable on a panel 2. The cable is first stripped of the outer insulation 6, exposing the outer conductor 3 which is terminated at a farther point, exposing the inner insulation 7 which encloses the inner conductor 4. An outer malleable flanged tube 11 is slipped over the cable to cover the exposed part of the outer conductor 3 and the cut end of the insulation 6. A resilient gasket 10 is threaded over the insulated inner conductor which is then led through a hole 5 in a conducting panel 2. The inner tube 8 is slipped over the inner insulation 7 from the other side of the panel through hole 5, through the gasket 10 and under the outer conductor until the flanges 12 and 9 of the tubular members sandwich the panel 2 and the gasket 10. This clamps outer conductor 3 to inner tube 8 and at the same time the outer flanged tube grips conductor 3 and extends lengthwise to compress gasket 10.
