Abstract

1,180,713. Cable termination. KABELUND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A.G. 27 May, 1968 [27 May, 1967]. No. 25244/68. Heading H2E. A sealing end for a high-tension conductor 10 having an insulating sheath 9 consists of concentric tubes 11 which are graduated in length to form a sealing bell 10, the tubes being positioned in relation to one another and on the insulating sheath by a heating and cooling " shrinking-on " procedure. This may be effected at the factory or on site. The tubes may be wetted with a lubricant to avoid air inclusions. The tubes are preferably metallized to effect potential control within the sealing bell. A conductive coating 12 at the bottom end of the bell connects with the screen 13 of the sheathed conductor 10. The sheath 9 may be of polyethylene or butyl rubber and the tubes 11 of polyethylene.
