Abstract
122,755. Greenwood, T. G. April 18, 1918. Motor power plant; jet-wheels; working-fluid supply.-A stator explosion chamber 1 co-operates with one or more cylindrical pockets formed in an impact wheel and fitted with reciprocating pistons 8 which, according to the invention, are connected by a rod 14 and link 15 with a fulcrum pin 10 mounted on the wheel and carrying a crank fitted with a block 13 adapted to engage a stationary cam channel 5. Gas is drawn in by the piston 8 through an inlet 3, compressed, and ignited on the wheel pocket registering with the chamber 1, exhaust taking place through a port. 2 and being assisted by vanes 4 fitted in an extension of the pocket. The vane pockets 4 have a blank middle portion, Fig. 4, so as not to admit gas from the narrow inlet 3. The rotor pockets housing the pistons 8 and vanes 4 may be pressed outwards against the stator by helical springs.
