Abstract
1,227,126. Spray carburetters and fuel injectors. G. GIANINI. April 11, 1968 [May 5, 1967], No.17563/68. Heading F1B. Fuel, supplied continuously under pressure to a collecting chamber 4, is blown therefrom intermittently by pulses of air or gas supplied to a pipe 9, whereby the fuel is atomized and discharged into an intake pipe 1 or directly into the cylinder. The gas may be supplied to pipe 9 from a pump through a distributer, the pulses being timed to arrive at chamber 4 just before or during the intake phase of a cylinder; alternatively the gas pulses may be obtained from the exhaust pipe. The fuel is supplied under pressure by a pump 7, the supply being maintained proportional to the air supply by a bleed-off system 8 having a suction operated bypass valve or a valve controlled directly by throttle valve position. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the fuel nozzle discharges into a small venturi (15). A plurality of carburetters may be provided one for each cylinder, discharging into a common intake pipe.
