Abstract
PURPOSE: To control the intensity of swirl in the cylinder of an engine which is supplied with a laminar mixture and provided with a fuel injection valve and a spark plug for a combustion chamber, by providing a diaphragm unit and a small throttle valve for temporarily increasing the flow rate of discharge from a pump.
CONSTITUTION: A larminar-mixture-supplied engine comprises a piston 1, a combustion chamber 2', a fuel injection valve 3 and a spark plug 4. Air is compressed by a pump 11 and then injected into a cylinder 2 through a nozzle 13. When a throttle valve 9 is opened to accelerate the engine, the negative pressure in a small Venturi part 10 weakens temporarily and a small throttle valve 14 is fully opened by a dipharagm unit 15 so that the flow rate of discharge from the pump 11 is temporarily increased to intensify a swirl in a cylinder.
