Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve ignition and combustion by causing an intense swirl in a combustion chamber, by providing a compressor to extract fuel almost just under a downdraft carburetor together with a mixture and inject the fuel and the mixture from an auxiliary intake port into an intake port. CONSTITUTION:In an internal combustion engine 1 with a twin downdraft carburetor 13, the confluence part 12 of an intake manifold 11 or an inside bottom near the confluence part is connected to the suction port 20 of an air compressor 19. The discharge port 23 of the compressor 19 is connected to an auxiliary intake port 22 opened into an intake port 6. The opening which connects the discharge port 23 of the compressor 19 to the auxiliary intake port 22 is oriented to cause a swirl in a combustion chamber 5. In the slow rotation of the engine 1 under low load, fuel and a mixture which gather to the confluence part 12 are contracted by the compressor 19 so that the fuel is atomized and the pressurzied and enriched mixture is injected into the intake port 6. Thus, the ignition and combustion are greathly improved.
