Abstract
PURPOSE:To diminish smoke in operation under heavy load, by opening a main injection passage into a main chamber, orienting the port of the passage in the direction of a tangent on the inside surface of the cylinder and opening an auxiliary injection passage into the main chamber near its center line, to heighten the ratio of utilization of air in the combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A main injection passage 4 is provided with a port 4B on a main chamber 6 so that the port is oriented almost in the direction of a tangent on the inside surface 8 of a cylinder. The passage 4 is provided with another port 4A on a swirl chamber 1 so that the port is oriented in parallel with the center line l of atomization by a fuel injection valve 7 looking from the axis of the cylinder. An auxiliary injection passage 5 is provided with a port 5A on the main chamber 6 so that the port is located near the center line of the main chamber. As a result, combustion gas in the swirl chamber 1 jets into the main chamber 6 through the port 4B to cause a swirl so that fuel supplied through the auxiliary injection passage 5 is mixed with fresh air and then starts burning.
