Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve combustion and reduce specific fuel consumption by causing swirling currents at the times of low load and high load and of tiny turbulences at the time of mediun load to intaken air respectively in the suction device provided with two suction holes per one cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: Venturi negative pressure is not generated at the time of low-load operation and a control valve 10 in a large-diameter suction pipe 7a is kept closed through the intermediary of a diaphragm device 11 and a link 13. Accordingly, the whole fuel-air mixture is supplied into a combustion chamber 25 through a small- diameter suction pipe 8a and a small-diameter suction port 8b, forming the strong swirling currents in the combustion chamber 25. Next, at the time of medium-load operation, the venturi negative pressure increases and introduced into a chamber 20 through the intermediary of a pipe 19, whereby a diaphragm 12 is made to move to the left and the control valve 10 is opened. Therefore, a certain quantity of the fuel- air mixture is supplied into the combustion chamber 25 through the large-diameter suction pipe 7a and a helical-type large-diameter suction port 7b and collides with the current of the fuel-air mixture from the port 8b, whereby tiny turbulent currents are caused.
