Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent unstable combustion caused by a reverse flow of the atmosphere from an exhaust passage into a combustion chamber by providing near a suction valve a blast nozzle biased to one side with respect to a cylinder axis in a combustion chamber.
CONSTITUTION: In a four-cycle multicylinder engine, a secondary air passage with a check valve 26 in it opens into an exhaust port 2 to lead the atmosphere into the exhaust port in aid of pulsated exhaust pressure. A blast nozzle 36 eccentrically faced to a cylinder axis in each combustion chamber 15 is formed near a suction valve 17 inside a suction port 5. The blast nozzles 36 for cylinders each are connected to an auxiliary passage 37 to be communicated with each other. Under low load operation of an engine where much atmosphere carried into the exhaust passage 2 to flow back into the combustion engine 15, high speed suction current supplied from the blast nozzle is swirled around the axis of a cylinder 12 to promote combustion. Thereby feeding secondary air improves unstable propagation of flame in the combustion chamber 15.
