Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the ignition performance of a diesel engine at the cooling time thereof and prevent the emission of a white smoke by providing an auxiliary fuel supply means together with a fuel supply means and by operating said auxiliary means only at the aforementioned cooling time.
CONSTITUTION: A main fuel injection nozzle 4 communicating with a distribution type fuel injection pump 5 is disposed at an auxiliary chamber 3b communicating with a main chamber 3a of a cylinder 1, while the fuel is injected by the rotation and reciprocation of a plunger 15 of the pump 5. An auxiliary fuel nozzle 8 is opened at an intake passage 7 communicating with the main chamber 3a through an intake valve 23 and is linked with a feed pump 11 via an auxiliary fuel passage 10 having open/close valve 9 opened only at the cooling time of a diesel engine to enable the injection of the auxiliary fuel.
