An edge seal, for hinged doors or windows e.g. a threshold seal of a hinged door 22, comprises a mounting member 9 of U-shaped section with walls 12, 13 at an acute angle to the vertical inserted between the jambs with the open side up into the floor beneath the closed floor and a sealing strip 7 of resilient rubber &c, bent from a flat strip into an inverted U-section and attached by sandwiching its limbs between the mounting member 9 and a clamping member 16, 17 so that the central portion of the sealing strip protrudes in the relaxed state from the mounting member above the level of the lower rigid edge of the door wing, and a free space is provided under the surface of the seal strip. In the case of different levels of the floor in the threshold one limb of the mounting member may be extended to the higher level as by an abutment strip 20 clamped between the mounting and clamping members, the upper end of strip 20 being vertical. The seal may be used for the sides and top of a door or window.
