Abstract

839,523. Draught excluders. CORNELL, G. W., and CORNELL, W. E. March 18, 1958 [June 27, 1957], No. 8621/58. Class 20(3) A sealing strip comprises a support member 10 of extruded rigid polyvinyl chloride to which is secured a sealing member 19 of more resiliant plastic. The sealing member is formed with a flange 39 which clips into a recess in the vertical face of the support member, and with a leg 47 which engages under the edge of the support member as shown. The face of the sealing member 19 may be uniformly resilient to a closing door and shaped as shown, or may have a protruding nose portion so that only after this portion is compressed is appreciable resistance to closing offered. In another form the sealing member has a face formed with outwardly extending resilient fingers. The support member 10 may be shaped as shown or preferably the support 35 is dispensed with and the face 15 curved more rapidly to the floor or frame to which it is secured by nails 48. In another form the support member is a flat strip 27 recessed to receive on its upper face an arcuate sealing member 23. The assembly may be nailed to a door threshold or to the underside of the door. Specification 764,782 and U.S.A. Specifications 2,646,417 and 2,753,322 are referred to.
