764,782. Draught excluders. CORNELL, G. W., and CORNELL, W. E. Feb. 18, 1955 [Feb. 23, 1954], No. 4888/55. Class 20(3) A threshold seal comprises a support strip 11 preferably of rust-resistant metal, a resilient, deformable strip 12 in each foot and another such strip 13 having tabs 77 along its longitudinal edges engaged in undercut grooves 37 in the support strip so that it presents an outwardly bowed surface which is depressed into a recess 22 by objects passing over the threshhold. A support strip with each edge similar to that at the right hand of the threshold strip may be used along the vertical and top door edges. Another with both edges like the lefthand edge is suitable for two-way swing doors. Strip 13 increases in thickness from a central area 71 to a point short of the locking tabs 77 and rounded entry noses 76 to provide short neck sections 74. Strips 12 have a dovetail portion fitting in grooves in the support strip and a bulb or sealing section 59 which is collapsed when the support strip is screwed down. For floors of different character on either side of the door, e.g. wood and cement, the seal strip may have a bulb section of cylindrical form with thicker walls so that it may accommodate itself to greater surface irregularities. The sealing strips may be of rubber-type or vinyl plastics or natural rubber.
