Abstract
1,223,119. Bulking yarns. COURTAULDS Ltd. 11 July, 1968 [12 July, 1967], No. 32089/ 67. Headings D1F and D1W. Yarn formed from continuous filaments, some of which have a different elastic recovery property from the other filaments, is bulked by stretching and then relaxing to allow the component filaments to recover elastically but by different amounts so that the filaments with the lesser recovery form loops. The filamentary components may be of nylon, polyester, polypropylene or polyethylene with cellulose diacetate or triacetate or viscose rayon, perhaps with additional different filaments. The components e.g. nylon and cellulose triacetate multifilament yarns, may be initially assembled into a single yarn by passage through an interlacing air jet, subsequently or immediately stretched and then relaxed to develop loops which may be compressed into the body of the yarn to impart a slubbed appearance thereto by passage of the yarn through a constricting guide.
