Abstract

1,221,190. Motor wheels. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU VERLADE-UND TRANSPORTANLAGEN LEIPZIG VEB. 16 Sept., 1968, No. 43880/68. Heading B7H. [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] A wheel or drum drive mechanism comprises a rotor 3, Fig. 1, mounted on and driven by a motor 1 through gearing 9 and having support means by means of which the gearing is mounted on a bearing plate mounted on one end of the drive motor, the ends of the support means being connected to or extending through an adjoining casing which is mountable horizontally or vertically on a frame or support member to support the motor. The casing forms a protective casing for the gear when the pins are directly connected to the frame (10), Fig. 2 (not shown). Rotor 3 may be a cable drum or have one or more drive wheels 4 mounted thereon. The bearing 2 adjacent the gearing may be a needle roller bearing with a split inner race. Drive mechanisms may be arranged one behind the other and/or directly adjacent to one another in mirror image or joined together by a frame.
