Abstract

1,162,695. Moving web apparatus for exhibiting announcements. BECKETT, LAYCOCK & WATKINSON Ltd. 11 Oct., 1967 [21 Oct., 1966], No. 47195/66. Heading G5C. A display device mounted in vehicles, e.g. a destination indicator, comprises a scroll 8 running between two independently actuatable rollers 3, 3a and visible through window 11 from outside the vehicle and through window 14 from inside. As described, a shaft 7 rotatable from the driver's compartment drives one or other of the rollers 3, 3a through gear means, depending on the sense of rotation. The device is mounted at the rear of a vehicle, the markings visible through window 14 indicating to those inside the nature of the announcement visible through window 11. The rollers may be driven electrically; the markings may be perforations in the web 8; and the web may be illuminated from the rear by artificial light.
