Abstract

686,393. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. GAZDA, A. Jan. 2, 1950 [Sept. 13, 1949], No. 62/50. Class 118 (ii) [Also in Group XXXII] A combined rear view mirror and direction signalling device for motor road vehicles comprises a casing 34 mounted upon a bracket 6 by universal joint means 7, a transparent mirror 41 forming the rear wall of the casing and backed by a stencil having a direction indicating cut-out 46 therein covered by coloured translucent material, direction indicating means (not shown), cut in the front wall of the casing and covered by transculent material, the mirror and the front wall being attached to a casing element 35 having slots 36 in way of the member 7 so that the indicating means may be rotatably adjusted to a horizontal position. The direction indicators are illuminated by a lamp 44 the leads 45 passing through the centres of the joint 7 and the bracket 6. In an alternative embodiment the casing may be divided into separate compartments by a vertical partition. the compartments being formed respectively with right and left direction indicating means. The direction indicators may be associated with a flicker device.
