Abstract

1,148,252. Electrical driving units. M. REVERCHON. 28 July, 1966 [30 July, 1965], No. 33919/66. Heading B7H. A driving and steering unit for a vehicle comprises an electric motor 1, the case of which rotates and is provided with rubber tyres 2, mounted by bearings 3 on a ring 6 which is grooved at 10 to receive ball-bearings 14 by which the ring 6 is supported within a ring 11 having a groove 13 complementary to the groove 10. The ring 11 is attached to the vehicle chassis by a flange 20. A pulley 7, which may have a toothed surface, is secured to the ring 6 and is engaged by a belt 8 passing over another pulley 22 driven through a shaft 23 and coupling 26 from the steering shaft 4. Alternatively, the pulley 7 may be replaced by a toothed gear driven from the shaft 23 by a train of gears.
