Abstract

965,636. Chain hoists. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. April 8, 1963 [April 7, 1962], No. 13968/63. Heading B8B. In an electric chain-hoist having a shifting- armature motor, the self-sustaining brake 12, Fig. 1, is accommodated for compactness within the larger stator end 11 of the motor, the suspension lug 7 and chain sprocket wheel 8 being arranged respectively above and below the smaller stator end 10. The arrangement permits the suspension lug 7 and sprocket wheel 8 to extend for compactness, radially within the extension of the cylindrical outline of the part of the casing 4 required to accommodate the larger stator end 11 of the motor. A common bearing shield 1 carries a bush 6 for the suspension lug, both bearings for the sprocket wheel 8 and one bearing for the journal 5b at one end of the motor shaft 5 and all the bearings for the spur gears 17, 19 &c. in the motor drive. A slipping clutch 20 is provided on the sprocket wheel shaft 18 and is adjustable externally by a screw 21. Space is provided for a terminal strip 15 within the casing and is accessible through a cap 22 in the housing cover 3.
