Abstract

When a silage grab, Fig. 1, is raised with the jaws closed as shown, rollers 14 abut a fixed plate 31 and are pushed towards each other to the position shown in Fig. 2, so that the jaws 3, 4 are opened and springs 17, 18 are tensioned. As the jaws open, a pivoted lever 23 is rocked about its axis 24 by the end 21 of a locking lever 15. The jaws are held open with the springs tensioned until the grab is lowered again on to the silage. The surface of the latter raises a trip lever 26 and this pivots the locking lever 23 and allows the jaws to close under the action of the springs 17, 18. Synchronous movement of the jaws is ensured by a link 29.
