Abstract
1,215,817. Hard aluminium alloys. I. KAWAKATSU. Dec.27, 1967 [Dec.26, 1966], No. 58633/ 67. Headings C7A and C7D. A hard aluminium base alloy with good abrasion resistance is made by forming a melt of an alloy comprising: - the balance being Al; and nitriding the melt. The nitriding may be effected by introducing nitrogen or a nitrogen containing gas or a compound containing nitrate and/or ammonium ions into the melt. The cast alloy may be hot worked, cold worked, solution treated at 450-490 C. and aged at 85-130 C.
