Abstract

1,127,407. Coating with metals, Zn alloy; coating by sintering. BETHLEHEM STEEL CORP. Oct.13, 1965 [April 2, 1965], No.43392/65. Headings C7A, C7D and C7F. A ferrous base, e.g. a strip or hardware has a coating comprising 5 to 24% Al, not more than 0À6% Pb, and the balance Zn. Si may also be present in an amount not less than 0.5% of the aluminium content and preferably about 3%. The coating may be applied by powder metallurgy methods as by passing the base through a molten bath. The coating may be cooled by an air blast. In an example the bath comprises 12À8% Al, 86.7% Zn, and 0À4% Si .
