Articles e.g. strips on plates of Fe, Fe base alloys, stainless steels, Cu or Cu base alloys 60/ 40 brass, are coated by hot dipping in a molten lead base alloy comprising As 0.01- 5% optionally Sb 0À1 -10% and optionally Sn 0À1 - 3% the balance being Pb.
