Abstract

1,209,022. Multistorey framed building structure. STEEL CO. OF WALES Ltd. 30 Oct., 1967 [8 Sept., 1966], No. 40142/66. Heading E1K. A multistorey building comprises lightweight cold rolled steel staunchions 60 located, with respect to a prepared base, at points which lie on the outline of a closed figure defining substantially the shape in plan of the building, and a structural member 62 secured between a pair of staunchions to form part of a wall of the structure between the two superimposed storeys, the structural member 62 comprising a pair of spaced longitudinal steel elements 2, which may be formed as folded or rolled steel channels, attached as by welding, bolting or rivetting to the edges of a corrugated steel sheet 1 which extend transverse to its corrugations. Members constructed similarly to the members 62 may be used in the roof of the building as at 63 in the flat roofed building of Fig. 6 (not shown) or at 70, 71 in the pitched roof structure of Fig. 7. Alternative forms of roof are also described with reference to Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown). Insulation backed cladding which may be plasterboard, tongue-and-groove or ship-lap boarding may be secured to wood fillets 120 Fig. 12 which are attached to the elements 2. Window frames may be attached to the fillets 120. Brick faced cladding may be formed by shaped brick elements 153, 157, 159, 160 supported by stringers 151 on battens 150 provided between upper and lower fillets 120.
