Abstract

The building (B) is rectangular in plan and is formed from a series of wall panels (Ws, We) of conventional concrete shear resistant construction. A primary roof frame is formed from spaced transversely extending beams (10) and wall support angles (11) at opposite ends of the building. A Series of Z-shaped purlins (12) forming a secondary frame are supported on the primary frame together with cave struts (13). Channel shaped shear connectors (14) are connected between selected pairs of purlins to make the roof rigid. A series of roof panels (15) are supported on top of the purlins and are such that wind loads on one side walls are transmitted through the frames and panels to be resisted in shear by the adjacent two side walls.
