1536980 Metal building frameworks H KATHMANN 3 Feb 1977 [5 Feb 1976] 04412/77 Heading E1K A portal frame for a building, e.g. an agricultural shed or stable, built up from a series of such frames, together with purlins 7, roofing 6 and cladding 8, 8a, consists of C- section bars 1, 2 joined by connector pieces 5, 5a which fit within the channels of the bars and are secured in place by self-tapping screws (10, Fig. 2a, not shown), the bars 2 forming the roof-supporting rails having one flange cut-away to allow passage of one limb of the connector pieces 5. The purlins 7 may also be of C-section. Insulation material may be placed between the claddings 8, 8a and in the roof.
