Abstract
1,200,459. Shuttleless looms. MACHINEFABRIEK L. TE STRAKE N.V. 27 July, 1967 [27 July, 1966], No. 34546/67. Heading D1E. In a jet loom, sufficient weft for one pick is fed into two storage chambers 8a, 8b alternately being picked from one whilst the other is being loaded. A tube through which weft is fed at a uniform rate traverses across the mouths of the chambers to enable suction to draw a loop 1a into the chamber 8a and a loop 1c into the chamber 8b; as the weft passes from the first chamber to the second, a clamp 14 closes to grip it. The leading end of the weft is held by a clamp 16, out of which it is being pushed, at the stage shown, by a rod 19a to enable the picking nozzle to project it in to the shed, thereby emptying the chamber 8a. At the end of its stroke, the tube turns about its axis so that its mouth faces to the left; as the tube retracts, it lays the weft in the clamp 16, which also cuts the weft as it grips it, thereby providing a cut end of the loop 1c which is pushed out of the clamp by a rod similar to the rod 19a and projected into the shed by the picking nozzle.
